Zoe Hoeberigs: 2012 Curatorial Intern

Zoe Hoeberigs is our Curatorial Intern for 2012. Zoe is an artist and teacher with a Bachelor Fine Arts (Hons) and a Graduate Diploma in Teaching (Secondary) from the University of Auckland. In 2012 she is completing a Master of Arts Management degree at Auckland University of Technology.

Zoe is working on three practical projects during 2012, two internship projects and one course-work project; and of these Zoe says “My interest lies in arts education and in all three projects that I am currently working a key objective is to create unique and authentic opportunities for young people to gain insight into different aspects of the art world and to understand the potential of their artistic endeavors.”

Course work project: PLOT / GRAPH Competitions and Exhibition
Two competitions I have devised and am organising for secondary school photography and design students are currently underway and are concluding with an exhibition at Artstation in October.

Internship project 1: Corner Gallery – Curatorial Assistant
I am currently working with two Auckland artists, Zainab Hikmet and Holly Davies, for an upcoming show at Corner Gallery. The new installation project, to be installed in October, will be produced by the artists in partnership in response to the distinctive character of the Corner gallery space.

Internship project 2: New Zealand Sculpture OnShore - Curatorial Assistant
Working as Rob Garrett’s curatorial assistant, I have been helping with different aspects of the sculptural biennale, including tracking and discussing artists’ progress in making their works; and during the exhibition in November I will be assisting with the children’s education programme and art collectors’ previews.
