The Competition for Artists Exhibition is presented as an island, suspended in the flow of the museum; and patterned on one of the primary curatorial motifs for next year’s inSPIRACJE Festival, Szczecin’s own Grodzka Island.
As you navigate your way around the ‘island’ of temporary walls in the middle of Muzeum Narodowe’s large hall your steps will echo the flows and eddies of the West Oder, Kanał Grodzki and Duńczyca. Encountering the art on these walls you may intuit certain zones or atmospheres that also correspond to the flows of Szczecin’s waterways, islands, city and people.
The DEEP is populated by dark, mysterious and sometimes heavy works, arranged to face the sites of old industry, old myths and unseen undercurrents in the Duńczyca and on its shores. Here you will find the art of Judyta Bernaś and Martyna Jastrzębska; and shown separately in 13muz, but linked to this shore, the haunting animation work by Paweł Kleszczewski and Kasia Zimnoch.
UPSTREAM, where the West Oder shares its flow with the Duńczyca, you will find echoes of the ways the city, its stones and its islands hold the lives around them, in ripples, reflections and oscillations. Here the works of Sonia Rammer, Julia Kurek, and Andreas and Niko Guskos are clustered.
Along the West Oder where Grodzka Island faces the old town, things are FLOATING. Here is a zone of purifications, rituals, dream-like palimpsests, delicacy and beauty fantasies suggested by the works of Urszula Kluz-Knopek, Agata Szymanek, Weronika Lucińska and Diana Grabowska.
Finally, you will find yourself DOWNSTREAM and return to the place you entered the hall. Here the sea and Lake Dąbie beckon. This is a place of mists and uncertainty; a place of things yet-to-come; a place of the return of the forgotten and discarded. Here the works of Anna Dybowska and Agata Wolniewicz reach out to the watery unknown and unseen.

Ekspozycja prac laureatów Konkursu dla Artystów ma kształt wyspy, przywołując podstawowy motyw przyszłorocznej edycji inSPIRACJI – szczecińską Wyspę Grodzką. Gdy będziesz przebywać w tej przestrzeni, Twoje kroki będą echem przypływów i prądów Ody Zachodniej, Kanału Grodzkiego i Duńczycy. Wschodnią GŁĘBIĘ tworzą prace o mrocznej, tajemniczej, czasem trudnej tematyce, dotykające zagadnień dawnego przemysłu, mitów i niewidzialnych, podziemnych prądów. GÓRNY BIEG RZEKI wyznaczają rozchodzące się po powierzchni wody fale, drgania i odbicia murów miasta oraz wyspy. Na zachodnim brzegu, zwróconym ku najstarszej części miasta, wszystko UNOSI SIĘ wskazując obszary oczyszczania, rytuałów, sennej delikatności i fantazji o pięknie. Na koniec - DOLNY BIEG RZEKI – miejsca mgieł i niejasności: rzeczy, które mają się dopiero ujawnić oraz powrót do tego, co zapomniane i porzucone.

The 3 projects proposed by the Project Finalists will be realised in Szczecin during late 2016 and the summer of 2017.
The Competition for Artists Exhibition is part of the 11th edition of the inSPIRACJE International Contemporary Art Festival organised by 13muz, Szczecin and curated by Lena Wicherkiewicz.
Wystawa główna: „Oksydan. Po płynno – empatycznej stronie życia” / The festival exhibition: “Oksydan. On the fluid – empathetic side of life”
Na wystawę główną inSPIRACJI „Oksydan. Po płynno – empatycznej stronie życia” składa się blisko sześćdziesiąt prac wykonanych w różnych technikach i mediach – od malarstwa, rzeźby, poprzez tkaninę artystyczną i obiekt, po instalację i wideo. Wiele nowych realizacji, przygotowanych z myślą o wystawie lub dotychczas nieprezentowanych, inne – pokazane w nowych kontekstach, w błękitno-turkusowej tonacji. Siedemnastu artystów różnych pokoleń wypłynęło na szerokie wody mierząc się ze znaczeniami wodnej materii i zjawiskami płynności: symbolicznymi związkami wody i sfery nieświadomości, kobiecością, odnową i oczyszczeniem, odbiciami, przemianami, wpływami. „Oksydan” to wizualna podróż przez obszary płynności – zmienna, nieprzewidywalna, orzeźwiająca.
The main exhibition of this year’s edition of inSPIRACJE is entitled “Oksydan. On the fluid – empathetic side of life” and consists of nearly sixty projects and artworks representing painting, sculpture, tapestry, objects, installation and video. A significant proportion of the exhibition is new works, prepared especially for “Oksydan” or if not new, previously not exhibited. Others are shown in new contexts, in our turquoise-blue exhibition surroundings. Seventeen artists, spanning the generations, have sailed on wide waters to conceive artworks that explore the water element and phenomena of fluidity: including symbolic relations of water and the unconsciousness, femininity, renewal, purity, reflections, transformations and influences. “Oksydan” – a visual journey through the areas of fluidity – changeable, unpredictable, refreshing.
