"Sounds of Sea" (2011) by Korean/Finnish artist duo Aamu Song and Johan Olin (COMPANY) was inspired by the sights and sounds of the Waitemata Harbour beneath the artists' feet as they explored the North Wharf in Auckland's brownfields Waterfront development.
"Sounds of Sea" is one of a suite of site-specific public art commissions by Waterfront Auckland / Auckland Council within the Wynyard Quarter, a new public space development on Auckland's waterfront.
Rob Garrett was commissioned by Auckland Council in 2010 to develop a Wynyard Quarter public art plan; and subsequently engaged to curate and oversee the development of several new commissions, including "Sounds of Sea."
